Psh, you act like there's such thing. Life is what you make of it, if you like it-what you're doing now. If you don't like it-what you should be doing now.
um, this is the philosophy section to the forums, your answer is retartedly vague and nowhere near as thought out as it should be. I've refrained from answering this question as it is a hard philosophical question to answer.
'what you should be doing now', by answering this question you would be answering the question being asked.
Yeah, yeah. That IS the question that should be asked. "What should you be doing now?" and if you're doing it, then that's "The Good Life" and I'm not being vague because what you should be doing is what you know is the deal.
1. not clearly or explicitly stated or expressed: vague promises.
2. indefinite or indistinct in nature or character, as ideas or feelings: a vague premonition of disaster.
3. not clear or distinct to the sight or any other sense; perceptible or recognizable only in an indefinite way: vague shapes in the dark; vague murmurs behind a door.
4. not definitely established, determined, confirmed, or known; uncertain: a vague rumor; The date of his birth is vague.
5. (of persons) not clear or definite in thought, understanding, or expression: vague about his motives; a vague person.
6. (of the eyes, expression, etc.) showing lack of clear perception or understanding: a vague stare.
Yeah, yeah. That IS the question that should be asked. "What should you be doing now?" and if you're doing it, then that's "The Good Life" and I'm not being vague because what you should be doing is what you know is the deal.
it's the same question .......you obviously know nothing about philosophy, so why bother posting here?.

"The Good Life" would be whatever you are doing now, if you're enjoying it. Reaching your goal and having a life of success. "What if I don't want success?" It's a success if you're succeeding it not having success. Whatever it is in life that you enjoy doing is "The Good Life".
hmm yeah, it is to a degree. but there are many arguments against that. i'd have to agree with Aristotle on this one. The Good Life is about virtue and moral, and living it the best you can.. it isn't about satisfying your every whim. i also think theoria has a big role - knowledge; reason.

I absolutely agree with you...
Living good life is having your own goals and making everything to achieve them but but not at somebody's expense...
Good life is living in accordance with morality and conscience...
In the moment of death when you think you've lived your life the best you could and not regret anything you've done or decided...I think that's Good Life

I think that there is also a link with the veiw and outlook we have on our life and life in general. having a posative outlook, as well as good morals and values...i think that's definately part of it

Does there exist such a thing? What defines "the good life"? Why is there such a concept? Why would there be?
Existence precedes essence. We have no inherent meaning. In order for us to exist in the same existence as one in which "the good life" does, some teleology is in order. I have seen no evidence of teleology, and have found evidence to point against it. Therefore, to believe that there exists a pre-defined "good life" is futile and null.
In order to know if there is "a good life" and how to live it, one must first ask themself what the human essense, in it's quintessential form, is. Humans are not born rationalists. As such, why should there exist any priori concept of "the good life".
I disagree with Aristotle on a number of key points. One of these is his claim that essence precedes existence. To assert that we are here to fufill a goal, or follow a pre-destined path and meaning, is null. We are here in existence. That is it. From that, we define meaning in our lives. Everything is created from subjective thought and constructivism. No objective universals. No pre-created "good life".
I suppose I should stop. Most of this belongs in a thread about existentalism. So, I'll conclude: there is no objective "good life". It's not the Aristotle idea of "essense precedeing existence" and following objective universal morals and virtues. The "good life" is subjective. We create and define it. And we change it accordingly.
