Tyler Durden's philosophy (if you don't know who he is, there's something wrong)
What's your take on it?
I think he has a lot of good points, but I think some things are a bit extreme.
"I get cancer; I kill Jack" (lol, sorry, a bit off topic I guess)

I think I can sum up Tyler Durden's life philosophies pretty succintly:
The first thing one has to consider is that his thoughts apply mostly to men.
1. We are a generation of men abandoned by fathers and raised by women.
2. According to Tyler, our image of God comes from the image of our father. Given our abandoned state, one can believe that God has abandoned us.
3. You have to be able to accept the fact that God may not like you; in all likelihood, he probably hates you. Why else would he abandon you? (Look at it from a child's perspective)
4. Because we are God's bastard-children (the middle children of history), we must act out in the worst ways to get his attention.
5. Being punished by God is better than being ignored by him.
So I think the original poster's question would be:
If all of that made sense, would you rather have negative attention from God or none at all? For your existence to be acknowledged or not at all?
Edit:
Tyler Durden is the anti-hero of "Fight Club," though in the novel and the movie, he serves as a mouthpiece for Chuck Palahniuk's personal beliefs.
If you're interested in his other views, I suggest reading his other books--they're quite good.

yep
yeah
i think thats deffently an interesting way to look at it... rather sad. i dont think god has abandoned us though i mean now a days spiritualy is put on the back burner, hate and money are the center of life. so who abandoned who. we make nuclear war, mashines made to take life, a gift from god and when god is not found in life many wonder why. i think people are looking in the wrong places. god/ goddess/the all/ it/ spirit. is always there we just need to slow down, and meditate on life. that is the only way to recieve divin intervention when our mind is quite so we can hear it.
That view is really interesting though, and in a way i really do agree. our fath is lost because the world is lost.
