Do people exist?
Sometimes when I'm in the middle of a crowd or something I get a strange feeling that I'm the only person there. That everybody else is either a robot or a fabrication of my deluded mind. I haven't seen anybodies internal organs except on TV, so how do I know that what is actually inside someone? I know it sounds somewhat like a conspiracy theory and a lot like I'm a crackpot but I'm not and most of those feelings only last a bit.
Has anyone else felt or thought the same thing?

i do believe all people we see around exist (never tried to rip someone's heart out to see if it's beating...sorry, i'll get serious). I have never doubted people are biological, though i think the true randomness in people's minds sometimes is lacking.
In my opinion it doesn't really matter if we are all 'mother earth's children' or some kinda robots with ingenious artificial inteligence, as long as this randomness that causes us to be unique and unpredictable still exists. Maybe the cause of our all-sorted-out lifes is the product of our society where instincts are muted and the repeating procedures of day-to-day life cause us to become part of an infinite loop (maybe not infinite, we all should sometime die...and go to heaven, or what each of us believes).
And there are such moments that we escape from this extasy and realize that life has more to offer than what we thought of being natural, what we never thought about and just did because we thought it was right... allright, i drifted a bit..
but in the end what i'm trying to say is that we can get consumed in the world we're living and the life we see as true. That way the randomness is no longer of any importance... and without randomness indeed the human brain loses its advantages over computers... i think i'm getting a bit far again.
So i think it's normal to be confused every now and again...i think it's a part of our life, trying to understand what motivates other people to act as they do...and then i think that every single soul out there would act as a true human being when needed (yes, i know i'm wrong, there are exceptions), because our nature can't be forgotten...even lab rats keep their natural instincts after being locked in a cage for generations.
...wow, that's long... sorry to have wasted time and space to express my thoughts, only slightly related to the topic though i hope it's atleast just a bit clear.

Hey
no post on this site is a waste of time
Yeah i can realite with what you say.. I feel sometimes that i notice those things some times and that im the only on in the world that does. THat i see and appresiate things that no one else sees. WHEn i was a little morbid a couple of years ago i always thought that no matter how many people were in the same room as me that i was always alone that no one anywhere would ever understand what i see. its hard some times and the fast pass is crazy. and i complietly understand what you mean . I have a twin and i some times still feel like no one will ever know you know. lol cool. BUt i do remeber that there are peopl who love me in this world and that im not alone.. its cool but some times i wish people would stop and smell the rosesa nd spot with this fast pass world that seems to be racing no plce?

i don't think u sound crazy at all. i think it's a perfectly normal part of the human condition to feel alone or isolated in a crowd at some point because we are not capable of ever 'experiencing' someone else other than ourself, so we can never feel completely sure if anything beyond us is real.
maybe what ur feeling lies in what ur perseption of a human is? when u are looking for the 'human' in the people around u are looking for bits of bone and organic tissue arranged in a humanish form? u said u've never actually seen any oragans, maybe the organs don't matter in someone's overall humaness? maybe what makes someone human is intangable and can be seen on the surface. maybe what makes someone human doesn't 'physically' exist.
next time ur lost in a crowd remember that even though u can't see it everyone in the crowd has a deeper dimension to them then what u see in front of you.
it's interesting to note that this site is the exact opposite. here you can only see the 'intangable' side of people - their thoughts, feelings and opinions, and not the biological robot those things live in. do u ever doubt that someone on this site, who can discuss questions like this, are real?

Well, i never feel like that when there are people around, but sometimes if i'm walking or something, and the place is literally deserted, i sometimes feel like all of a sudden everyone has disappeared off the earth & i'm the only person left lol. I'm such a loser sometimes lol.

I agree too! Sometimes u can just walk thru a crowd like they're not there. I think its cos a lot of people today dont take the time to ask people how they r or make new friends, just cos the world runs at 5 million miles an hour and everyone has somewhere to go.
I think people are more suspicious of each other these days as well, for obvious reasons. My girlfriend still doesnt understand how i can talk to strangers on the tube (London railway) on the way back from a football (soccer if ur american) game, she says its scary, but i think thats kinda my point, u know what im sayin?

i think everyone has really good points i mean everybody has different thoughts and experiences and does anybody else ever really know everything about you? personally sometimes i feel like theres two of me. one of me is the part that everybody knows the other part is the thoughts goin through my mind that are like a secret from the rest of the world. even though you think you may know somebody there is always a part to them that you never can get to know.
saying that sometimes i wonder are we really here at all! how do we know that we really are living life and that were not all figures on a board game? what is human? its all we know but have we ever really looked past our small world?
k well that probably makes no sense but anyway............

According to my deranged English teacher, we don't exist. She frequently randomly declares in the middle of speeches about William Shakespeare's or somethig we are figments of our own imagination because our subconscious is powerful enough to do something like that.
I don't think she's entirely right, but she could well be. I never feel like the people around me are robots, but I sometimes doubt my existance and those around me. I get that alienated feeling in crowds as well. They feel dream like. And the I wonder if we're a figment of someone's imagination. Someone placed us in a world where they dictate what happens and the only thing we have control of is what we think, say and do, the last one with its limitation. Sort of like a RPG. There's a world and we're just characters, but in the end the webmaster decides what goes.
...
That didn't make sense did it?

Well I don't know. I simply enjoy putting forward badly thought over ideas for the sake of putting forward an idea.
