I think it's because guys don't get periods, so we don't know exactly how much it hurts or what it feels like so we don't know how to treat girls that are on their periods. And the thought of a girl bleeding from a place you don't want them to bleed from probably doesn't help either.

What makes me cautious about periods is PMS. I... choose... my... words... very... wisely.

Most of the girls I know get really bad PMS, so it's a case of staying the heck out of their way until they're in better moods.
Some of them are truly frightening in the one or two weeks before their period, I can tell you.

Guys often dont kno much about it - like alot of issues it gets ignored n people think theres sumfin wrong with talking bout it!!
hopefully it'll get better as more people r open n chat bout important stuff!!
N they avoid u n stuff cos part of being on ur period is mood swings n boys dunno wat 2 do so they run away!! lol!!
Seriously tho - i get reali easily annoyed sumtimes wen i'm on my period so i understand y guys avoid u - but surely then its better that they kno so they can b sensitive!! I tell my bfriend wen i'm on my period - theres nothing wrong with it - its a natural process!!!
Its kinda difficult 2 not kno wen i'm on my period tho cos often i get reali sick!!
But anyway.. yea!!!

Agree
Yeah i agree wiv Dan. I think im 4 or 5 years older than him but i still have as much idea about periods as he does! lol
Personally i try n to look afta my girly wen she gets ill at "that time" n i just try n ignore the PMS, but i think most guys just dont want the hassle!
If ur in a relationship or wen u are, i fink the guy might appreciate talkin bout it. Not a lot but just a little so that he understands it, it certainly helped me n means i can b more helpful too wen my girlfriend is feeling bad.

aw thats sweet your girlfriend is lucky to have you.
i think that its great when guys try to understand what were going through. i mean i don't go out of my way to tell my male friends that i'm having my period but it'd be nice to know that they'd understand if they did find out. i mean it effects what? half the population?
its nice to know that you have such on open and honest relationship.
at the same time tho i think that girls should be more open to issues that guys have cos i mean theyr'e bound to be going through some stuff too.

Like a week before I get my period, I just get really emotional and want to cry all the time. The best cure for that is to sit down with you chichas and watch sad movies.
A lot of my guys friends also get freaked out when us girls talk about our periods. Like what Dan said, they just don't really understand what it's all about. They don't know what we go through. One of my guy friends comes to me and asks me questions about those kind of things because his gf gets mad when she asks her. I had to explain to him what actually happened when a girl has her period and what tampons were. It kind of freaked him out, but he understood it. I think that all guys should be informed about, that way they don't freak out when their girl friends have their periods.
