I've been feeling stressed recently and also thought of meditation. People say it's a feeling of calm so what I did was to turn on the ceiling fan, lie on top of my bed, close my eyes and empty my head. This relaxed me, the breeze coming from the ceiling fan helps me. I lied for a bit until I nearly went to sleep, but when I got up I was relaxed.

Meditation is a good time to reflect on your behaviour/feelings/mood/etc, so you might want to think about that - although if you prefer just a feeling of calm then that should be OK.

Try doing something that really relaxes you, for me it's laying down and emptying my head, for you it might be different. It may not work the first few times (it didn't for me, so I experimented) but that's not to say it'll never work.

I might be completely wrong, I've never read anything on meditation, but it's worth a try.

Here is my take on it: no matter how, relaxation always calms people down. Meditation is a form of relaxation and stress-be-gone. If you wnt to a spa, you could probably relax just a much in a hot tub than in a "mud bath." Personally, I think sitting here typing this is just as relaxing as Meditation would be.

That's my take, Ash.

I agree, I'm happy with my own form of relaxation. So just find what suits you best.

yeh, cool to read your views about it, its good to release the stress as much as you can, cause one time it just built up in me, and i litterally exploded went out to hyde park alone.. i did some star gazing and loads of thinking, and i must say it was really good for me, this was a long while ago but might do that again, under less anger and stress... i guess i was just fustrated with some of my personal issues. i guess doing some sort of meditation can help in a lot of personal situations and helps yourself sometimes get through tough times.

I find going out for a walk helps me too. You shouldn't let tension build up, you shouldn't let other things take priority over your happiness... Make some personal time for yourself each day where you just forget about the world and spend some time on yourself, whether it be a walk in the park, meditation or relaxation.

It's always good to take a little while out from the hurly-burly of modern life and use it to explore your thoughts and feelings. I usually spend about half an hour before I go to sleep just laying there in silence and reflecting on the day's events and how they made me feel.

It is nice and relaxing.

I find when I'm getting stressed out or het up about one thing or another to just sit in a totally quiet place, no other sounds but your breathing (maybe a clock ticking or a metronome) and just think about every thing that makes you feel happy, every thing that makes you feel upset, and just try to fit the positive bits into the negative bits. This is probably making no sence whatsoever to you all but i know what I'm on about and it generally works!

But when I'm going to sleep on a night I'll subconciously just sit and think, it's weird, I'll sit there for hours on end and I'll just snap out of it and realise how late it is. Which leads to me being an Insomniac and why you might find me online (both MSN and Teenville) at quite late times!

When I'm really stressed out at night, I take a walk. I love the smell and feel of the night air. It's cool and refreshing. It may seem odd though, I don't care how late it is.. I still go. My mom always flips out about me walking alone, which she has every right to.. but I live in such a sheltered and safe neighborhood that I highly doubt that would happen. The entrance to my neighborhood is seperated by a golf course, and then it's a gated so you can't get in unless you have access.... so for pete's sake I think I can handle myself... sry for the rant, lol. seems like I need to go for a walk.

Anyways, I've tried yoga too, and that helps. Also, once and a while, I get a massage. I think spending a little time and money on a massage is a good thing. And before anyone goes off on the cost of a massage... I get mine at a massage school, so it is considerably cheaper to get a massage. Same thing for half the cost. I don't know if you have access to that... but i'll just put it out there

Re: meditation

yeah i supose anything that 'frees' your mind from stress. If you can take a break from the hectic life around you and go for a walk somewhere; up a mountain, down a country road or sit by a peaceful stream everything will become clear and ease your mind.
Also i found smoking weed in the right relaxing environment helps but if your not a drug type id just stick to walks
