Re: Astral travel.
Meh. Protoscience has the potential to be quite a caustic thing. Even more so when it's based upon pure posteriori, as is the case of astral travel.
Then again, I suppose my criticism of astral travel doesn't center entirely around that itself. All mysticism demands a posteriori experience, while claiming to teach knowledge of a priori. It all falls victim to intermittent claims of subjectivity and then objectivity.
But, enough of my complaints. To actually answer your question: No. Spontaneous astral travels shouldn't be done. The sheer fraudulent experiences which would occur, should anyone attempt to under take a "spontaneous" astral travel, would not be good.
Also, no, the're not meant to tell/teach us something. Unless, of course, you believe in that New Age babble. In which case, you and I do not comply.
I hope that answers your question(s).
